GOUGES

 

OUTER BEVEL

 

The gouge is used to scoop out hollow curved forms, finishing convex curved lines and surfaces, prepare wood pieces for ornamentation in a lathe or for wood carving. The user should select the gouge which most nearly correspond to the curvature of the line or surface to be cut.

 

The blade is made of German chrome vanadium steel, is forged and heat - treated and has a Rockwell hardness (HRc) of 57 - 60. To sharpen the cutting edge use a sharpening stone of grain 46.

PLATIC HANDLE

This handle is made of high - impact polypropyline plastic.

 

WOODEN HANDLE

The wooden handle is made of American or European hard - wood and is bound by steel hoops to prevent mushrooming.
